Jeff is the founder of Avita Yoga. Yoga as an awakening path is his life's work and dharma. Passion and purpose were set in 1985 at the age of 23 when he sincerely asked: What does it mean "to join?" If yoga join...
This (level 3) class brings a lot of attention to the primary pattern - the impact that time and gravity (and sometimes self-defeating thoughts) have on the body. We tighten across the front of the thigh, groin, and hip. We collapse in the ribcage and the head comes forward. Assuming you're ready for the demand, this class targets the anterior hip restriction and front of the thigh, deep to the femur. We use a standing poses (Virabhadrasana II and Parsvotanasana) to integrate the work (including ankles and feet) to integrate balance with mobility. We finish with Utkatasana to put it all together, followed by a long rest.

The assumption is made here that the student has worked through chronic pain issues and the compensatory patterns that accompany them. It does no good to push the body if the pattern and problem remain (and often hidden from awareness) because when we push the body we fall into the very pattern (and pains) that we are trying to resolve. Some will be drawn to the demand and excitement that the Avita Red classes offer. If they don't come with a sense of ease, though demanding, then please spend more time in the Green classes.

Avita Yoga® brings areas of conflict and rigidity to light where it is resolved. It is a sustainable practice that generates long-term results with more freedom in the body and more peace of mind. If you've ever thought that you are too stiff for yoga, then Avita is for you. The goal is simple: to remain healthy, mobile, and happy as long as possible. Avita Yoga is a results-driven practice, ideally three to four times per week. Some are called to practice daily, but start slow and pace yourself. It works for students of all ages, abilities, and degrees of mobility. Avita is the yoga for a lifetime®
